Kingston unleashes skills at the South Eastern Junior Tournament

19 Mar 2024

The South Eastern Junior Basketball Tournament (SEJBT) was the place to be over the Labour Day weekend, March 9-11. We had three fierce teams take on the challenge: 18 Boys, 18 Girls, and 12 Girls. Coach Andre led the 18 teams and Coach Megs the 12 team.

The 18 Boys initially started slowly, with many players experiencing their first time playing together. However, they progressively built strong team chemistry throughout the tournament.

The boys had a competitive game against the eventual tournament winners (in their second last game). The team showed a lot of growth and exposure to some players that don’t usually play at that level.

The 18 Girls played a great tournament. They won four games in a row to reach the Grand Final, to only fall short in the final seconds with a missed three-pointer on the buzzer.

It was an impressive tournament, providing younger players with the opportunity to compete at a higher level than usual, with half of the team consisting of U16 players. The older girls showed leadership by stepping up and guiding the group.

The 12 Girls dominated in their Grand Final with an epic 36-10 win. Their first time playing together, and they emerged as the undefeated champions! Massive congratulations to all the girls!

Despite the intense March heat, the teams rallied together, stayed cool and slayed the games.
