Kingston Basketball Academy (KBA) is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to offer clear guidelines and opportunities for promoting positive behaviour.
KBA stands out because the athletes and coaches we welcome are great people. This is not a coincidence. We just want positive people around us, and we have a zero-tolerance regarding disrespect, violence, aggression or any form of harassment.
TIME
Be on time
Elite athletes should aim to be at least 15 minutes early for sessions
If you arrive late, approach a Coach, say sorry, and begin warming up on the sidelines until instructed to join the session
Elite athletes arriving 15 minutes after the session has started, may not be able to take part in the training
ATTENDANCE
Being part of KBA’s program demands significant dedication
Make sure to attend all training sessions
To be part of our teams, you must attend a minimum of one training session per week
Attendance is compulsory for all team games
If unable to attend your game due to illness, family emergency, or school commitments, inform your team manager and coach in advance to ensure smooth team operations
ALWAYS GIVE 100%
Put in maximum effort during sessions
Maintain a positive attitude and mindset
Be proactive and ready to take on any challenges that come your way during the training sessionÂ
Approach sessions with the goal of enhancing your skills as a player by giving your all
Stay committed to your goals and keep pushing forward, even when the going gets tough
LISTEN TO YOUR COACHES
Soak up the wisdom your coaches dish out
When a COACH is speaking, you should be listening
Follow their instructions, work hard and ask questions if you need clarification
Don’t be disrespectful or defiant
Maintain a respectful tone when communicating with your coach and address any issues privately
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Be respectful of others
Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all Academy athletes, teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, parents and spectators regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion
Display sportsmanship on the court, and demonstrate concern for the rights, safety, and welfare of others off the court
Do not engage in disrespectful behaviour or foul language
Never engage in any violent or aggressive behaviour that will threaten the health, safety or wellbeing of another athlete, player, parent, spectator, official and/or coach
There will be no harassment of any kind, which includes bullying, hazing and sexual harassment
KBA reserves the right to withdraw membership privileges from any athlete who consistently displays inappropriate behaviour or fails to meet the responsibilities outlined in this Code of Conduct.
